All Play Interdisziplinary performance Schauspiel Dortmund Premiere: 21st march 2025 ca. 60 min

Do you feel like playing a game? What kinds of games do people play for fun in everyday life – and which ones do they use to navigate their social environment and shape their identity?

A dystopian future where no one plays. Three players join forces to search for traces of a world without repression in the past. What did play mean to people? They discover playgrounds, movement games, board games… Even society itself is a kind of game board on which people interact. The players immerse themselves in these different situations, taking on various perspectives.

What roles do we play, and when do we switch codes? When do we act strategically, when do we negotiate within existing structures of the majority society? When are the rules imposed on us from the outside? And how do we emancipate ourselves from them? What happens when we live authentically, exercise freedom, and create something new?

Choreographer Magda Korsinsky, together with the ensemble, explores the significance of play as an essential part of social interaction throughout life and questions the social roles we take on. The ensemble weaves together language, movement, song, empowerment, and lightness into a new, self-determined paradigm.

All Play reveals, through repetition, transformation, curiosity, and joy, the universal human need for play.
